On Thursday, May 18 from 3:30 to 5:30 P.M. in 14A-00, VU Literatures in English will organize an End-of-the-Year Party and a “360-degrees feedback,” specifically aimed at our first-year BA students but open to all of our students and alumni, to gather more information about what students have appreciated in our program and what we can improve.
Although all of the evaluations have been good or even excellent and we have positive feedback from our midterm review from our peers, we’re also aware that we can improve on a lot of things, and we need your feedback for that. By asking students to anonymously fill in a questionnaire, and engaging in an open dialogue with Prof. dr. Diederik Oostdijk, Dr. Kristine Steenbergh, and other staff member afterwards, we’d like to get some constructive feedback for next year’s program.
After that formal session, two students — a bachelor and a master student — will briefly present their theses. Bibi Naeem will talk about her thesis on the translations of Rumi’s work in English and why he has become a bestselling poet in the U.S., and Jordan Lassonde will present on her thesis about Shakespeare adaptations.
Following that, two of our students, Jawek Kamstra and Rick van der Waarden, will perform a few songs that they have written themselves, and a special cover version. Drinks & snacks will be served afterwards! We hope many of you can attend!
